It will grow to surprising heights, and as this cactus grows, many branches will develop. These columnar cactus cuttings need to callous on the cut end, and then they should be planted, but not watered (or watered very sparingly). They can be given more water once they root, but it will probably not be necessary. If you live in a very hot climate, these cuttings should not be given full sun until they have rooted and are established. Note that "Peruvian Apple Cactus" is an umbrella term for several closely related (and nearly identical) species. At this time, I am unable to narrow down the type of cactus any further, but note that this is not the fully monstrose or semi-monstrose variety (both of which tend to grow slower, and have a greater number of deformations that are also more pronounced).
