Description: Past Patterns PP#7986Early 1920s One-Piece House Dress Sewing Pattern This Early 1920s One-Piece House Dress sewing pattern was originally published by the McCall Pattern Company ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On the original packaging, the garment was described as a “Misses' one-piece dress, suitable for smaller women; right or left closing; in two lengths." Past Patterns thinks there is a possibility that this was used as a maternity dress. 2 variations of the One-Piece Dress are provided with this package. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This Dress pattern was originally developed for the size and shape of an early 1920s woman with 37” bust. This is the only size provided with the package. For resizing information, see https://pastpatterns.com/resizing-vintage-patterns/ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Materials Required 3 3/4 Yds of 36” Wide fabric 1920s Dresses similar to this we made of gingham or percale and they were colored blue, gray, tan, lavender, blue-plaid, pink-plaid, pink-check, blue-check and black-and-white-check. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The package has a copy of the original art, a material requirements chart and a pattern layout diagram on the front cover. Inside the booklet are written directions for building the garment and historical notes on McCalls. The historical notes are continued on the back cover. We also include the Past Pattern Guide to Editing Garments Due to Bust Size . The patterns are on 2 sheet, hand drawn and computer printed, emulating the originals, 1 36”x73” and 1 36”x37”. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our patterns are printed on 20 lb. white paper and packaged in a reusable plastic. We do this with the hope that people will start creating and wearing reproductions instead of antique originals. The clothes we wear and that our grandparents wore are part of our cultural history. Just as you would not abuse antiques furniture by cutting off decorative trim, so you should not abuse antique garments by wearing them. Our second goal is that you pick up a little bit of history when you sew the garment. The fit, the cut, the fasteners, the fabric design, just to mention a few things, are part to the technology of the time. Our third goal, in sewing the patterns, is to spark an interest in genealogy and local history. Researching local history is always a rewarding pursuit. SKU 7986 Thanks for looking!
