Description: PACKARD 1931-1932 “INDIVIDUAL CUSTOM CARS” PORTFOLIO – VERY RARE Packard 1931-1932 “Individual Custom Cars” Portfolio. Custom coachwork on Packard models 904 (“Eight Deluxe” aka “Super Eight”) & 906 (“Twin-Six”). This portfolio measures 12 1/8” x 9 ¾” (approx. 30.8 cm x 24.8 cm). 24 black & white photograph heavy card-stock plates illustrating custom “coachwork by Dietrich” and “custom by Packard”, all in blue folder/envelope with Packard crest. The plates are all in excellent condition but the folder is only in “good” condition, with minor tears, etc. According to Packard expert Robert E. Turnquist in his book “The Packard Story”, fifteen custom body styles, by Dietrich and by Packard's custom body shops, were introduced in June of 1931 for the model 904 “Eight Deluxe” 147-inch wheelbase chassis, and in January 1932 all of the Dietrich customs and some of the Packard custom body styles were continued to be offered on the “Twin-Six” model 906 147-inch wheelbase chassis as well. In forty-five years of collecting luxury automobile sales literature, I have only once seen a complete and original version of this Packard portfolio offered for sale (and I purchased it). Many years previous to that purchase, about 25 years ago, I purchased this incomplete portfolio which I am now listing on eBay. I purchased it from one of the major and most reputable automotive sales literature dealers, who assured me that this is an original and not a reproduction.
