Description: This MAGNIFICENT cotton 1870's sunshine & shadows quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted, with 3200 triangle pieces organized in a symmetrical maze pattern with light and dark fabrics. A splendid variety of late 19th century fabrics are represented.It measures 82" X 82" and is in near-mint, never washed condition, with a few small spots and no wear. The quilt feels remarkably strong and sturdy overall. This one was made, then put away for 150 years. There are straight line designs quilted throughout at 9-10 stitches to the inch. The back is white, the hand stitched binding is indigo blue, and the batting is thin. The quilt came out of Alden, New York.
