Velodrome in Brno-Pisarky has a 400 meter long covered concrete runway. The World Track Cycling Championships were held here in 1969 and 1981.On the site of today's velodrome, in a locality called Bauer's ramp, stood a kind of predecessor of today's track. The first bicycle races were held here on July 21, 1889. The track was originally clay, with a clay surface. It was replaced by an asphalt surface in 1951 and a concrete surface in 1957. With the concrete track, barriers, lighting, changing rooms, a farm building with a dormitory, garages, etc. were added. The current form dates back to 1969, when the velodrome hosted the World Championships, for the purpose of which it was necessary to modernize the velodrome again; new changing rooms, infirmary, restaurant were added (Wiki).
