Description: I believe this box is handmade and from Olinalá in the mountains of Guerrero, México. Charming hand-painted rabbits, squirrels, birds and geese are carved into the wood lid and sides and painted bright green on a black enamel background. It is completely handcrafted using pre-Columbian techniques so the results are rather primitive but charming. The box is made from lacquered linaloe wood. 5.5” long, 4.25” wide, 2.25” high. The hinges are in good working order. The box is strong with no cracks or repairs but there is some minor loss to the green paint here and there.
