Description: Here is an old, black & white photo of a house and side steps that lead up to a side yard that runs down the length of the house. The house is made of stone and has a porch with an awning. There is a wall between the house and the sidewalk and street. I can't tell if the house is a single family home or a twin. On the back is written: Becker Grand Parents Schuylkill Haven 413 St. John St. I did some research and found this house is still standing at that address in Schuylkill Haven. Using census records I found that the home was the home of William and Susan (Reed) Becker in the 1920, 1930 and 1940 censuses. William and Susan had 5 children that I could find record of: Herman, Howard, Abner, Lewis and Cora. Herman was born and died in 1890, Howard died at age 11, Cora married Harry Hurling and had a daughter Isabel, Abner married Irene Zwiezig, I couldn't find if he had any children, and Lewis married Kathryn Burkhart and had 3 children, William, Elizabeth and Mary. William Becker died in 1944 and Susan his wife died in 1951. According to her death certificate she was still living at 413 St. John Street. After her death I do not know what happened to the property, if it stayed in the family or was sold. The photo is clear, but does have some rough edges and corners. There is a tear in the photo on the side where the house is that I have stabilized with archival tape. There is also a white mark on the side up in the tree, and on the other side where the tear is. A neat old photo for anyone who lives at that address today or the local historian. Postage wil be 4.20 to the U. S. IF OUTSIDE THE U.
