Description: NEW! 3D Stereo Realist 3.5 Camera Depth of Field Scale - David White Factory Part__________________________________________________________ For those of you who have grown up in the digital age and haven't had the experience of working extensively with film cameras:Depth of Field (noun) is the distance between the nearest and the furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera. Now you can inexpensively dress up your Realist f/3.5 camera with the optional Depth of Field scale accessory! We just purchased the old store stock of a closed camera repair shop and were delighted to find a box of brand new David White factory-made Depth of Field Scales. Installation is easy! All that is needed is a small jewelers flat screwdriver and 5 minutes.1. Set the focus at infinity as a frame of reference when the new DOF scale is installed.2. Remove the film advance knob screw.3. Remove the three screws holding the old scale on.4. Install new DOF scale by putting it all back together the same way as you took it apart. Tip #1: If you're all thumbs like me, try magnetizing your screw driver to help with the screw re-installation, or a dab of honey on the tip of the screwdriver helps to do the same. Tip #2: Using your thumb, give the new DOF scale a very slight bend before installing it (see last photo)...this will assure that the stop screw on the focusing dial will have a secure tab to bump up against. Chances are that you will have a small variation where the focus for infinity is on the new scale in comparison to where the mark on the original one was. The cool thing about the Realist rangefinder is you can play around with the focus and see exactly how far off the scale is and compromise when shooting. While it is a good thing to have your Realist serviced occasionally and have the focus recalibrated, this is something that needs to be done by a professional. I have found that the small difference is so minute that it's not worth having your camera serviced just for this. Why the Realist people didn't made these DOF scales exactly like the old ones, I'll never know... Do you service cameras? If you buy three DOF scales, we will give you an additional 4th one for FREE!
