There is no dust jacket, as released by the publisher for the Proof copy. An archival-quality Mylar Protector has been custom cut and modified to fit the book and covers the front, back and spine without any use of adhesive (use of which might have a deleterious effect over time). The front and back show little to no visible wear aside from a hint of flaring outward on the fore-edges. The binding is still tight and the pages are clean and crisp, without creases, marks or tears. A Superb Copy! Published in 2008 by Subterranean Press in Lettered and Numbered Editions, this is the paperback Advance Uncorrected Proof for that edition of Neal Stephenson's sci-fi classic, Snow Crash. It shows the "Advance Uncorrected Proof" notation on the front cover and the expected publication information on the back (such as limitation for the numbered and lettered editions, prices, publication date, and expectation that the book will "sell out quickly"). Since Subpress primarily produced these proofs for internal use, the expectation is that very few of them were printed, making this an exceedingly RARE item. This copy was originally William Schafer's (who runs Subterranean Press) and was sold by Camelot Books in early 2022 with proceeds going to charity. Since purchasing, the book was then signed by the author in November 2022 during an event at UW Bookstore in Seattle for the release of the 30th Anniversary Edition of Snow Crash. Digital copies of the receipt from Camelot and photos of Stephenson at the event can also be provided with purchase. One of the primary reasons this book has become more sought after in recent years is the emergence of VR/AR technologies and networks which have often adopted the term "Metaverse" to describe themselves. This is the book (published 30 years ago) that coined the term "Metaverse" and used it to describe a fictional virtual universe not entirely dissimilar to what is emerging today (and which FB has named their own VR/AR universe after). With Stephenson only making limited appearances for book signings, signed copies of any edition of this volume have become rare.
