Description: This is quite a rare Native American Neolithic handaxe. A surface find in Texas, the tool is clearly meant for heavy duty use, most likely for butchery. Like any handaxe, it’s held in the hand securely, and provided strong edges that could be sharpened through chipping. No doubt it had other uses, but the design makes the most sense as a butchery tool. This dates back to the archaic period, from 4-7000 years old, or older. There’s no way to tell exactly, but this is a beautiful display piece, chipped of lovely warm flint, and a native Texan. $49 including shipping is a fair price for it.
