Unique red NASA number stamped in the upper left-hand corner.Printed on 'A Kodak Paper' fibre-based, glossy finish, watermarked on verso. Prime crew of the Apollo 14 lunar landing mission: Alan B. Shepard, Jr. (center), commander; Stuart A. Roosa (left, front), command module pilot; and Edgar D. Mitchell (right), lunar module pilot. This portrait was taken on 12-3-1970, prior to their mission date of 1-31-1971. NASA produced master duplicates of all crew portrait negatives, while the originals were locked away in cold storage. From the master duplicates, this portrait was processed at NASA's photo lab almost two months before the launch for distribution to employees, NASA scientists and contractors, and is NOT mimeographed on the verso. NASA destroyed many of these original prints as they were archived on the internet, which makes these rare and difficult to find in good condition. Provenance: This NASA official photo was part of a family member's estate, given to him by a Houston NASA JSC employee in 1973. It has been protected from damaging light and mishandling.
