Unlike his last two releases, it featured several songs Walden co-wrote with other people (such as Allee Willis and guitarist Corrado "Pat" Rustici); unlike his discs up to this one, it featured only eight songs, not nine (yet was a half-minute longer than his last disc). I Shoulda Loved Ya reached No. 66 on the US Hot 100 and No. 4 on the R&B Chart.
