The Ribbon Shirt was, and still is the Classic "Indian Shirt" in cloth and is worn by Feather Dancers, Straight Dancers, Gourd Dancers and occasionally by the "Singers" or "MC" at present day PowWows and Ceremonial gatherings. Originally it was worn by Indians east of the Mississippi who modified the basic Anglo dress shirt style somewhat by adding decorations and changing the construction slightly.
