Description: Mimosa Silk TreeAlbizia JulibrissinThe Mimosa Tree grows naturally all over the Florida Panhandle. We thought this was a Florida Native, but later discovered these are originally from China. Our area was once a 'hot spot' destination in the 1850s.When the railroad was built 30 minutes to the North, almost everyone moved closer to the big city. We can only imagine with the quantity of trees here, that they were planted by the early inhabitants and spread later by wildlife. Our farm is fortunate to have a couple of these trees spotted deep in the woods. These trees are HUGE! One is about 20 ft high and 40 ft around!Pink flowers cover the trees in the Springtime. It smells so sweet that you can usually smell the flowers before you spot the trees. The flowers are just covered in bees and other small insects. By late Summer the trees are covered in brown seed pods. The seed pods were picked from the trees and separated to reveal many pretty little seeds. The Mimosas leaves look very tropical too! But, they do drop leaves every Fall. These seeds were harvested August 2023 Seed Starting Soak in warm water overnight Plant seeds 1" deep and keep moist, but not wet Seedlings will emerge in 2-3 weeks Shipping Seed orders under $10 ship with the USPS Non-Machine Stamp.
