Description: Maxfield Parrish’s “Prince Agib” - (The Story Of The King’s Son) - Original Period-Framed Color Illustration (facing page 202) from the 1919 Edition of Wiggin & Smith’s ‘The Arabian Nights’. The color and condition are excellent. The image is 6 3/4”x 5 1/2”. Outermost frame dimensions are 7 1/2”x 6 1/8”. The frame is about as old as the illustration. MP signature (barely legible) lower right corner (photo #7). A nice cost/size alternative to the full size print (Ref. Flacks 4th, page 50, last photo, #19). This was originally painted for and appeared as the color frontispiece for the October 13, 1906 issue of Colliers Magazine, in the feature ‘Arabian Nights III’, issued as a print the same year and finally as an illustration in the Wiggin & Smith 1909 first edition (and several subsequent editions). A small chip-out on bottom side of bottom left corner (photo #9), not noticeable from front. It is backed with 2-ply acid-free backing, new hardware, dustcover and bump-ons October, 2024 and ready to hang. Note: The first 11 photos are taken without glass to avoid reflection/glare issues; photos 13, 14 & 15 after completing of project.
