Description: Maxfield Parrish’s “Gulnare Of The Sea” - Original Period-Framed Color Illustration (facing page 86) from the 1919 Edition of Wiggin & Smith’s ‘The Arabian Nights’. The color and condition are excellent. The image is 6 1/2”x 5 1/4”. Outermost frame dimensions are 8”x 6 1/2”. The frame is about as old as the illustration. MP signature indiscernible due to coloration. A nice cost/size alternative to the full size print (Ref. Flacks 4th, page 52, last photo, #18). This was originally painted for and appeared as the color frontispiece for the August 3, 1907 issue of Colliers Magazine, in the feature ‘Arabian Nights X’, issued as a print the same year and finally as an illustration in the Wiggin & Smith 1909 First edition publication (and all subsequent editions). Note: The first 11 photos are taken without glass to avoid reflection/glare issues; photos 13, 14 & 15, after completion of project. It is backed with 2-ply acid-free backing, new hardware, dustcover and bump-ons October, 2024 and ready to hang. Also Note: Photos 16 & 17, the book itself, is shown for provenance only and is NOT included. I refund shipping charges over actual. Please visit my other Parrish listings. Specify shipping choice. USPS Ground Advantage is new and less expensive than USPS Priority. Thanks for looking. (Inv #2506-D)
