Description: The print offered here is an etching/drypoint by the German artist, Max Bruning. Bruning (1887-1968) was best known as a printmaker and did some very interesting pieces in Berlin in the 1920s. Much of his work was destroyed when the Nazis came to power in Germany as it was considered "degenerate art". Further, while he lived in Austria after the rise of the Nazis and during World War II, most of his remaining etched and engraved plates were destroyed by Allied bombings of Berlin. The print offered here is a lovely and evocative portrait from the side of a young woman with eyes downcast. The print is signed by the artist in the plate and is pencil-signed in the lower right hand corner below the image. This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off. Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions". Please check my other listings for additional items of interest. I will combine shipping.
