Description: This excellent survival knife was my choice to take with me on an expedition to the People's Republic of Congo in Western Africa back in February of 1987. I was one of five individuals who journeyed into the remote 5,000 square mile, then almost entirely unexplored, swamp-jungle in the Northern Part of that country to search for the legendary beast known as the Mokele-Mbembe. We didn't spot any of the mysterious creatures, but we talked with plenty of locals who had seen or heard one calling out. It was an exciting and interesting expedition and this fine knife served me well. It takes and holds a keen edge and if I had lost my lighters and matches, fishing tackle and my GI compass it could have been the thing that saved my life. The knife is in very good condition. In its original box with the instruction book and the harpoon accessory which is in its original box. All of the survival components are intact in the handle. The knife is 11" overall with a 5 1/2"blade. It is black and has about 95% or better all original finish. If you know anything about this model the 5 1/2 inch blade on a black knife is the rarest one out there. I do not have any photos of me in the Congo wearing the knife because unless I was going to use it I kept this knife in my backpack. I have provided two photos of me on that expedition. Both were taken our team physician, Dr. Sergio Ginaldi. Be sure and click on the "Seller's Other Items" link near the top of the page and view the rest of the items I have up for sale.
