Description: This is one of many great vintage & antique items I'm currently listing from various estates. Please take a look at my other merchandise at your leisure. You are bidding on: Original Painting Two Women & a Dog (Untitled) by Manuel Martinez Riadigos (1911-1995) ~ Painted 1982 ~ This vibrant painting uses transparent inks and watercolor on paper - then applied to a panel surface. The artwork has a magical quality...not only in the graphic depiction of the desolate figures...but also in the jewel-like colors. Powerful and thought-provoking, the image is deeply rooted in Argentinian culture and its personal struggles. Riádigos' work, in search of a definition of "what is American", recovers certain aspects of the indigenous cultures of his country. Some of the themes he addresses are scenes from the ravine, ranches and typical corners of the city.A recent show of his work was held from February to March 2022 at the Art Gallery of the Colegio de Escribanos in Cordoba, Argentina. The exhibition was titled "Martínez Riádigos - A look at his emotional and moving work". His pieces are in official and private collections across Argentina.Manuel Martínez Riádigos was born in Córdoba in 1911. He studied at the Figueroa Alcorta School of Fine Arts, from which he graduated in 1934 as Professor of Drawing and Painting. In the School of Applied Arts of the Province he obtains the title of Project Draftsman in Architecture. He works as a teacher at the Figueroa Alcorta School and other educational institutions in the city, such as the Garzón Agulla Superior Normal School, among them. Curator of the Emilio Caraffa Provincial Museum of Fine Arts, he was its director in 1963 and 1964. He made numerous trips around the country, investigating aspects of indigenous cultures. He illustrated books such as Eclogues, by Raúl González; Letras Cordobesas, by Carlos Carreño and Peomas de stocks, by Fanny Baigorria, among others. He passed away in 1995.
