Description: Martin D-40FW Description The D-40 was manufactured from 1997 to 2005. It has specifications and looks similar to D-41, but the shell decoration has been simplified. It is a model with intermediate specs between D-28 and D-41. This device is limited to 150 pieces, the limited model D-40FWLTD at the time. This is a USED product made in 1996. Sitka spruce top, flame walnut sides and back, ebony fingerboard and bridge, original Martin logo gold color pegs, Avalon Rosetta, small hexagon fingerboard position, vertical head logo, scalloped X bracing. Style 40 itself has a very long history, existing in the 1850s. Although it was not listed in catalogs from 1898 to 1927, it has been confirmed that it was manufactured as a Hawaiian model from time to time. Eventually, it disappeared from catalogs after the OO-40H in 1941, and it became a style that would not be produced for a while. The turning point was the J-40, which was born in 1985. Style 40 has been revived for the first time in about 40 years and has established a modern image. This instrument was manufactured by applying that image to the D size, and was made using walnut, which was rare at the time. Walnut itself is a well-balanced wood that has a clean tone and allows the high tones to take center stage without being sluggish in the low tones. It is easy to create a sense of separation between each string, and the bass is less boomy, making it easier to create a sense of outline of the strings. However, it has the thickness of the tone that is typical of the D size, and it produces a deep and sweet tone that is typical of Martin. A soft touch produces a mellow tone, and a strong touch produces a clear, popping tone. It has a slightly gorgeous and glossy sound, and is versatile enough to be used regardless of playing style. There are slight shrinkage and gaps at the beginning and end of the binding on the neck heel side and end side of the body, the start and end of the fingerboard binding and head binding, and the end of the fingerboard, but it is an ivory binding. Considering that it tends to shrink, it can be said that there is nothing that can be done about it. There are traces of peeling repaired at the constriction on the 1st string side of the top of the body, but the finish is so careful that you can notice it if you look closely. There are some areas where the paint has been slightly lifted on the edge of the sound hole of the bridge due to being pulled by the strings, but this does not cause any problems in use. Other than these points, the body is in very good condition with only light scratches on the surface of the body. It is in the best condition with no dullness that is often seen with gold pegs. The neck is in good condition and is a piece that can be played regardless of playing style. Even those who cannot get used to the current 44.5mm nut width will be able to enjoy playing to their heart's content with this 42.9mm nut width. The ease of grip is also one of its charms. A great value model that allows you to enjoy the gorgeous and rangey tone of the 40s at this price. Recommended for everyday use for those who have a 45, or as an upgrade from a 28.Comes with original hard case.Condition:EX+++Top:SolidSitkaSpruceSide:SolidFiguredWalnutBack:Solid Figured WalnutNeck: MahoganyFingerboard:EbonyBridge:EbonyMachineHead:Original GoldFingerboardInlay:AbaloneHexagonRosette:AbaloneBinding:White&BlackPickGuard:TortoiseColorPickup:noneNutwidth:42.9mmScale:645.2mmCase:OriginalHardCaseColor natural wood grainManufacture year 1996Optional items Custom made to orderTop plate material SpruceSide plate material OthersBack plate material OthersBody size Dreadnought typeAccessories hard case, Shipping Shipping by EMS or FedEx,UPS (international express mail service, with Tracking and Insurance, handling cost).
