Description: Originally known as the Maui Prince Hotel established in August 1986, the renamed Makena Beach & Golf Resort attracted tourists through a variety of enticing features beginning when it reopened in January 2012. When the land was commercialized in 1983 for the construction of the original hotel, the developers prioritized maintaining the natural Hawaiian beauty by preserving about 1,300 acres of the surrounding land and golf courses in their natural condition. Operating under Landmark Hotels Group, Inc., the Makena Resort offered an extensive assortment of activities, including: two outdoor pools, 290 rooms and 20 suites, an 18-hole golf course, a shopping arcade, tennis courts, and water sport lessons. Furthermore, the resort celebrated and supported the preservation of Hawaii’s natural beauty by sponsoring events such as the Run and Walk for the Whales.
