Description: The Love Letters, by Chris Massie 1946 Bantam paperback in excellent condition The basis for the movie Love Letters, screenplay by Ayn Rand 10% of this item’s sale will be used to promote rationality, individual rights, and the moral basis of a free, non-coercive, racism-free and fascism-free society (and its resulting economic prosperity for the general populace) by helping to promote the philosophy of Ayn Rand. Condition. Book looks like it has never been read. Spine is slightly concave, but unwrinkled. Spine has a few scuffs, as seen in scan. Covers are attractively flat. Front cover has a “B” written on it. No markings found on inside pages. Inside pages are all uniform and binding is intact; the three sides of page edges feel attractively smooth. Inside pages have sharp, pulpwood aroma. The first edition of the book was released in 1944; a film version with Joseph Cotten and Jennifer Jones was released in 1945; this paperback edition was published in 1946. The film is mentioned on the back of this paperback edition. The film’s adaptation was scripted by Ayn Rand. For an article praising the merits of this film adaptation, search the ’net for “Love Letters: A Little-Known Ayn Rand Gem,” written by Gary McGath. However, to my memory, the best things about the movie were not present in the book. That statement is based on a series of lectures given in 2010 by the late Dina Schein Federman: “Ayn Rand’s Other Literary Treasures: The Hal Wallis Screenplays.” I’m not aware of these lectures being available in print or online. Still, this book in attractive condition will appeal to collectors of material related to Ayn Rand. (The above is a Public Service message)
