A laughing kookaburra, the largest member of the kingfisher species, is synonymous with the Australian outback. Obverse: The obverse is graced with an image of His Majesty King Charles III, posed facing right with the Royal Diamond Diadem upon her head. The portrait is accompanied by the inscriptions "CHARLES III," "AUSTRALIA" and "1 DOLLAR." The classically styled likeness of the late monarch was designed in 2015 by award-winning British sculptor Jody Clark. Reverse: Featured on the reverse is a pair of kookaburras perched in close proximity on two separate tree branches, with an exquisite display of waratah blossoms below. A declaration of the series' title "KOOKABURRA," curves to the right above, while "2023 1 OZ 9999 SILVER" appears in a significantly smaller, simpler lettering style on the left.
