Description: The Man-Eaters of Tsavo and Other East African Adventures Author: Lieut. Col. J.H. Patterson | Frederick Courteney Selous (With a Foreword by) Title: The Man-Eaters of Tsavo and Other East African Adventures Publication: London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1921 Description: Hardcover. First Edition, Later Printing. 5.5 x 8.5in. xx. 350pp. Publisher's cloth boards with gilt decoration and titling. Signed by the author on a tipped in sheet at the front paste-down: "To Miss Lilly Carlman, with many kind regards, from John Patterson. Chicago, 4th Dec. 1924." The sheet was signed during Patterson's visit to Chicago during the installation of the famed Tsavo lion exhibit at the Field Museum of Natural History. Infamously the man-eating lions were serving as Patterson's rugs when the Field Museum offered to purchase them. VERY GOOD. Shows marginal shelf rubbing of the extremities, a small sticker shadow on the front board, endpaper lightly toned, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text is clean and unmarked, and the boards remain bright and distinct. As pictured. Terms All items are guaranteed to be as described or they may be returned within 14 days of receipt for a full refund. This listing was created by Bibliopolis.
