Description: Leather Medieval Belt POUCH for Rennie Faire Pirate SCA LARP Festival Bag Viking Superior Medieval Belt Pouch These classic medieval leather pouches are intended to be worn on a belt (up to 3 inches wide) for easy access and storage of your valuables. Style: Bollock or Kidney Pouch This style of pouch is based upon medieval illuminations and effigies from the Late Middle Ages circa 1200 - 1400 A.D. and was typically worn by nobles or merchants. This pouch is a tidy size suitable for carrying smaller items and provides superior security with the use of a solid brass floral buckle strap to fasten down the overlapping fold over cover. It is saddle stitched with sturdy thread. This is a "lay flat" pouch that doesn't use a gusset for depth so it has a very sleek profile but carries fewer/narrower items. Belt passage will allow this to be worn with a 2.5" belt. Measurements: 9.5 inches high x 7.5 inches wide. Knot Pouch: This style of pouch dates from the High Middle Age from circa 1000 -1200 A.D. but similar styles of this pouch can be found both earlier and later. It has substantial carrying capacity being able to carry a wallet, keys, cell phone, checkbook all conveniently on your belt. It also has a secure overlapping fold over cover secured by a knot and loop arrangement that keep things safe and secure inside. It is hand stitched with leather lace. Please note that the picture shows a brown pouch but we are selling both black and brown. The leather stain is on the exterior only and is not applied to the edge or inside. As each dye lot is different, the hue of brown can vary from the illustrated example. They are running a bit darker lately, more of a dark chocolate color. Belt loops will allow it to be worn with a 3" belt. Measurements: 6 inches high x 8.5 inches wide and about 2 inches deep (but it can handle wider items easily). The Crusader Pouch: This style is a variation on the Knot Pouch with the enhancement of a Cross mounted with brass rivets onto the cover flap and an overstiched edge that runs along the perimeter of the cover and backplane. This construction combined with more overstiching on the body of the pouch allows for a true expandable gusset so that it can expand to hold what is needed but can accordion flatter when it is emptier. Belt loops will allow a 3.5" belt. The Noble Pouch: This is another lay flat variety preferred by nobles seeking the sleekness of it's low profile. This ranges from a slightly later historical period than the Kidney Pouch. Note that the flap and belt loops are integral so it will stay closer to the body. This feature is a fine thing when cut-purses are afoot or simply when the wearer is moving quickly and wants everything to stay close. Measurements: The useful area within it is considerably smaller than our other models with an 8" x 3 1/2" interior dimension. This style is light in weight too at just 4.5 ounces. The belt passage is a tight 2", no wider. The Swing Hinge Pouch:This is a small pouch that has some nice depth. It's a neat fit for a cell phone and a compact wallet and is made to stay close to the belt rather than hang below. The swing hinge closure provides a very positive locked feeling. Super tidy and low profile. Measurements: The useful area within it is similar to our Noble pouch a 5.25" x 4" interior dimension but it does have a bit of depth so can open about an inch before pinching in the edges too much. This style is light in weight too at just 4.4 ounces. The belt passage is a tight 2.5", no wider. The Strap Closure Pouch:This is a medium pouch that has good useful space within. There's considerable room for several items and bulkier full sized wallets. This is a hang pouch that lays in line and slightly below the belt. There is no more positive closure than a threaded strap and it will NEVER open by accident. It's made for a SNUG threaded closure fit but you can easily trim the edge of the closure strap if you'd prefer a smoother fit. This is a classic historical pouch. Measurements: The useful area within it is similar to our Noble pouch a 6" x 5 with a true gusseted dept of 2". No too weighty at 10 ounces. The belt passage is a tight 2.5", no wider.
