Description: Intricately carved scene showing a mother polar bear with Cubs hunting a lone seal. The attention to details is incredible with even the bears teeth an seal's whiskers captured. Recently cleaned but may have some areas that may need attention. Shows very well! This carving is the masterpiece by this carver and occupied a place of honor on his homes mantle for years. Carved by Ellsworth Eugene "Whitey" Beebe from northern Michigan. Upon retirement from being a stone Mason, Whitey took to carving as an outlet. Totally self taught, he captured scenes that were important to him to serve as a remembrance. Mr Beebe (1927-2018) and served in the Navy during WWII. Raised his family in Sebeewing MI and retired to Kalkaska MI. This carving was obtained directly from his family who regarded him highly. Carving measures 21" long, 8" tall and 13" wide.
