Description: P-4A (Korean conflict 1951-53) vintage flying helmet. , complete liner marked USAF, headphones with nylon pulls using dovetail-type wiring at the rear of the helmet. canvas and leather Neck back strap is torn but included. This P-4A was meant to be used with goggles. It may have once had a visor in that metal pins have been sanded out where a visor set-up would have fit. Oxygen mask snaps are on the left. Right side interior snap panel was cut away during service with the PA National guard. Helmet was purchased from an Allentown, PA military surplus store in 1966. Bottom of the headphone covers are damaged. A representative (not the helmet offered here) picture of a P4-A helmet is shown being worn by Maj Felix Asla Jr, 4th Fighter Wing, Kimpo AFB, Korea 1952.
