In 1958 he became an assistant to Kiyoshi Saito, and was in charge of printmaking for 40 years until Saito's final years. During that time, he held two major exhibitions of his own, but after Saito's death, he began his art activities in earnest. Since then, he has held numerous solo exhibitions throughout Japan.
