Description: Jimi Hendrix unbelievably rare written out and signed check from his personal checking account to London'slegendary Speakeasy Club in 1968. This find is what we collectors dream about, the find of a lifetime for Jimi Hendrix collectors and collectors in general. For those of us who covet items thought to be unattainable, this Jimi Hendrix check is one of those items. I’ve been collecting for well over 40 years now and this is a once in a lifetime acquisition. The check was made out from Jimi’s personal J. Hendrix checking account from Martins Bank Limited made out to the infamous Speakeasy Club in London in the amount of 100.00 pounds on May 27th 1968. Jimi not only signed the check, but the details are also hand written by Jimi. The check measures 6 1/4 X 3” and is in Excellent+ condition with just a ultra light fold. Jimi filled out and signed the check in blue ink and the check has the red ink and stamped cancellation on the front of it. Jimi performed at the Speakeasy several times including this night that he wrote out this check out to the club, he jammed that night at the club with the band Fleur De Lys, known at the time for their version of The Who’ssong “Circles" The Speakeasy Club on Margaret Street in Mayfair, London, opened in 1966 and was a popular hangout for musicians in the late 1960s. Often frequented by a who’s who in popular music including Jimi as well as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Cream, The Who, Pink Floyd many of them regularly performed at the club, often after recording sessions. Jimi performed at the Speakeasy several times including this night that he wrote out this check out to the club, he also jammed that night at the club with band Fleur De Lys.
