Description: Indigo Textile Dogon or Mossi 67x47 Inch The cloth is made from Indigo resist-dyed cotton. This textile probably comes from the Dogon or Mossi people of Mali and Burkina Faso. Such textiles are commonly found throughout West Africa and most specifically among the Dogon, Mossi, Mende, Bamana, Senufo, Hausa, Fulani, Igbo, Yoruba, and so forth. The indigo-resistant cotton cloth is made of several strips sewn together. The background of this textile is in blue indigo. Each strip or section contains abstract designs in the dark set against a deep indigo field. This cloth in blue recalls traditional and old styles of textile-making. We do not recommend laundering textiles, and we do not accept returns of textiles which have been laundered in any manner. Even dry cleaning is too much for some of these antique textiles. For some of them, a very gentle HAND washing (NEVER MACHINE, on any setting) in cool water with a very gentle detergent works, but even then, dyes may not be colorfast and fabric may be less strong than it appears.
