Hula Hula PINEAPPLE ISLAND Hawaii Novelty Souvenir Barkcloth Era Vintage Fabric

Description: This fantastic offering is cut from the original bolt that I once owned...as you can see it has quite a bit going on...a fun take on Hawaii...with a focus on PINEAPPLE...showing the pineapple itself transformed into a can...with sliced pineapple popping out onto fun snack sized treats...with a curvy hula girl holding a pineapple as you know...sexy sells...this fabric is a few steps on from scarf like...definitely not as fluidous as a scarf...and much more fluidous than a cotton or barkcloth...expect more of a heavy blouse weight...the pineapple industry was new to exporting to other countries and states...the concept of mass producing was gaining traction and cans of pineapple were beginning to show up in Main Street superettes...where one could even make a pineapple upside down cake which became so popular in the 40's and 50's... This unused piece measures approx 22 inches x 21 inches square...a crisp clean white ground that looks completely brand new 1930's...lots of pineapple yellow...lime...shell pink...cobalt blue...teal blue...dove gray...shades of sandy browns with black writing "From the Islands...Pineapple!"...textile such as this grade...scale and weight were often made into souvenir pillows with fringe...or made into table runners or lamp doilies...today what a fun piece to create a pillow or deconstruct it into smaller framed pieces for a wall collage of frames of various Hawaiiana scenes...as shown in the last photo there is a stain in the middle...I didn't wash...I am. sure it will come clean or lighten up. Still great to work around to create some snippets framed for holiday gifts. Otherwise flawless. I take returns...but who wants to take a return right? So I do my best to add lots of photos that depict the weight and texture and do so thoughtfully so you are getting the most virtual experience. Please only buy if you know you really want it...in other words...I'm here to have the best selling experience and I can't do that without your help.
