HP 97 printer "Idler" Gear

The original gear was made of a nylon like material and over the years it disintegrates, looses teeth and such. The picture shows that it is made of brass and fits very well into the printer gear drive mechanism.Installation is fairly straightforward as you remove the back of the calculator, then three bolts holding in the printer. Disconnect the printer circuit board, and note where the gear is located. Carefully remove the c-clip with fine tweezers and set it aside. I place an M3 washer under the gear to better align the gear with the larger black gear and motor gear. Put the c-clip back in place and carefully place the whole unit back into the calculator. Bot in the three screws and reconnect the circuit board. If the original gear fails, when you turn on the calculator the motor just keeps running because it is trying to set the carriage return mechanism on the printer but without a gear that is not possible.Shipping: Shipping costs are listed below.
