The St Hubert medal is brand new, nickel silver, oval and 7/8" tall, with a gorgeous traditional image of the saint and a little oxidation added to show the details and give it that great vintage look. The 1-1/2" silver-toned San Damiano crucifix has the traditional Old Testament blessing in Latin "Benedicat tio dominus et custodate te ostendat faciem suam tibi et misereatus tua convertat yultum suum ad te ut det tibi pacem dominus benedicat te." which means: "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace". Both the crucifix and the medal were made in Italy; the chaplet itself was designed and handmade by me in our home in the USA. The eleven beads all 8 mm, smooth, round, natural, genuine semi-precious gemstones. The ten Hail Mary beads are Red Creek Jasper, a beautiful stone in earth tone colors and markings of brown, black, green, tan and red. The single Our Father is a Green Adventurine. St Hubert was a medieval spendthrift and wild-party guy who loved to hunt. One day he found himself with a beautiful 10 point buck in his sights - and the buck spoke! He saw a cross form above the antlers, and right then and there he had a conversion. From then on, he led a saintly life - and while he still hunted, he was a considerate, humane and responsible hunter. He is the patron saint of hunters, dogs, especially hunting dogs, bloodhounds (which are also called St Hubert's Hounds), forestry workers, mathematicians, machinists, metal workers, opticians, trappers, archers, precision instrument makers, and is invoked for protection against dog bites and rabies. The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medals and pictures are home-made, created using a "greeting card" program on a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although they are not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of our customers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 "pages" and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about the saint or Catholic devotion.
