Description: Foyer, McCreery's Department Store - 1910 Pittsburgh Exposition: In 1885, the Western Exposition Society of Pittsburgh was formed to promote the city’s industrial life through an annual exposition. The society chose the “Point” for the location of the halls and exposition grounds. The “Point,” now a state park, is where the Allegheny, Ohio, and Monongahela Rivers meet. The first exposition took place in September-October 1889 and ran for eight weeks. The exposition returned every September for eight weeks until 1916, when it was interrupted by the United States entering World War I. During the annual expositions, the exposition devoted itself, on the one hand, to the work of the Chamber of Commerce and, on the other, to ‘high culture. In 1903, McCreery Department store opened in Pittsburgh. In 1910, It participated in the Pittsburg Exposition, as this card shows its trellised Foyer. This Divided Back Era postcard, mailed in 1910, is in good condition.
