Description: Rare Emerson and Stevens 3 1/2 pound double bit axe. Stamped 46 which indicates 1946 manufacture date. Also maker initial W Is still barely visible. Great overall shape, doesn’t look like to me that it was sharpened much or at all, level bit top to bottom. I removed the handle and it was definitely the original because it had forge scars from hammering onto the handle itself (See pic of concave dents on both sides of the eye). Forged in Oakland Maine. One of the nicest axe companies in American history. Weighs 3.496 lbs. Thanks for looking!
