A 9:1 balun is used to translate a 50 ohm input up to 450 ohms. It provides conversion from unbalanced feed point, and provides a 9:1 impedance step-up to reduce SWR on the coax feed line. The SCOUT Balun, is contained in a rugged, 6061 anodized aluminum housing; intended to provide maintenance-free operation under all climatic conditions. Easy to install, the SCOUT 921 balun is designed for applications Covering 160M-6M at 500 watts pep. Configured as an UNUN with 50 ohm unbalanced coax input, to an unbalanced output to feed end-fed wire antennas (EFWA)All hardware is stainless steel & Brass, with a SO-239 connector at the base of the housing. The antenna wire attaches to a combination strain-relief and antenna wire connector, using a standard 3/8-24 hardware connector. In addition to wire, the 3/8-25 hardware connector works great with telescoping whips.
