Description: In his book on cloisonne, Gary Yoshino has a photo of a jar in this exact pattern with the description of it being early middle period (1830s-1870s) of the Edo era of Japan. I have included a photo from Gary's book (a most excellent resource, get it if you can) of the ginger jar, see photo 2, and also of his explanation of the Fuku mark found on the handle of the ink blotter. See last photo. Overall good condition for age, with expected pitting of the era and some dings and minor losses of enamel to each. Expect some wear. The hinged box has a few touch ups.The pen tray has some crazing at the corner. I have included my allotment of photos, but let me know if you need more before deciding.
