Description: Ebel Discovery Diver 200m Automatic Innovation and excellence in watch design have always been central to the EBEL brand. Founded in 1911 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, by husband and wife Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy, EBEL has stayed true to its founders' core values, producing fine Swiss watches that blend technical expertise with distinctive style. Acquired by the Movado Group in 2004, EBEL is celebrated for its iconic bracelet design with signature wave-shaped links. Today, the brand continues to craft luxury timepieces that embody modern elegance, refined with subtle, exquisite details. This beautiful extra thin 200m diver watch is contemporary to the Rolex Yachtmaster. It is powered by a Longines 990 (later renamed Lemania 8810). This movement is often praised as one of the best mechanical watch movements due to its advanced engineering and craftsmanship. Introduced in the late 1970s, it features a ultra-thin design (2.96 mm), making it one of the slimmest automatic movements ever made. Despite its thinness, it includes a date complication and operates at a high 28,800 vibrations per hour (vph), providing great accuracy. Its twin-barrel system ensures a longer power reserve, and its overall reliability and precision have cemented its reputation as a high-quality movement in watchmaking history. This innovation involves increasing the energy produced by the driving mechanism by acting on the rotational speed of the barrels rather than on the torque of the springs. This result is achieved by coupling two barrels in series, whose energies and rotational speeds add together. The weaker torques developed by barrels operating at higher speeds result in a reduction of forces transmitted through the gear trains and decreased friction losses. The resulting increase in efficiency allows for the selection of a balance-spring oscillator with high regulating power, stable over time and less sensitive to environmental disturbances. Additionally, the low torque of the springs facilitates the action of the automatic winding, which operates effortlessly. Less stressed, the parts of the different mechanisms can function practically without wear and fatigue. Comes with a service case and the original owner's manual.
