First use documented In 1505 in the capital of Calabar, Nigeria when slaves were traded for the standard of four manillas. Manilla is Spanish for bracelet. Used as currency until 1940’s. Lost method wax casting process. With numerous etchings throughout. Fantastic patina and polishing from use. Rare smaller diameter for a child. Includes custom made stand. Very heavy highly pure bronze. Bracelet is 1/2” thick. 9 1/4” long if stretched straight. 2 3/4” radius. Stand is 11” tall. Base is 6” X 6”. In fantastic condition.
