Description: You are bidding on a collection containing 8 books on US Army Ordnance and Gunnery that have been scanned, corrected, and assembled into PDF files. The main books are from the Military Service Publishing Company which specialized in very complete descriptions of military ordnance in the post-WWII era. The contributers are all military officers just back from the war. There are extensive tables and illustrations directly from military training manuals, combined with personal experience from the field of battle. The publishing company changed hands a number of times and is now Stackpole Publishing which still has a department of military and military history publications. The vintage manuals scanned for this DVD-ROM are becoming scarce now more than 60 years after publication.Free shipping for CONUS. More for foreign. Direct download is available. After purchase, send me a note requesting download. For foreign, I will refund shipping charges if download is requested. The manuals are as follows: "Coast Artillery - A Complete Manual of Technique and Material" The Military Service Publishing Company, 1942, 1761 (!) pages. This is the "Magnum Opus" of Army Artillery Manuals. It is a combination of four books into one volume with much of the redundant material removed (although there is still some amount of redundancy among the volumes). Sections include Weapons and Material, Ammunition, Service of the Piece, Organization of the Corps, Naval Targets, Identification of Aircraft, Basic Gunnery, Motor Transportation, Fire Control and Position Finding, Signal Communication, Combat Orders, Field Fortifications, Searchlights, and many more."Coast Artillery - A Complete Manual of Technique and Material" The Military Service Publishing Company, 1940, 1394p over 4 volumes. I include this earlier edition of the above manual because it contains a number of articles that are not in the later edition (and vice-versa). This one seems more practical with more information about field placement and use of the artillery and maybe a bit less about how you cast and forge a 16" gun barrel. "Ordnance Field Guide" The Military Service Publishing Company, edited by Lt. Col. Wm. E. Farmer in 3 volumes totaling 2687 pages. This is the definitive reference on US field artillery at the end of WW II. It has one of the only complete tables of all the field pieces in use at that time with the different mounts that were available for the guns. It has lots of technical information and exploded views of different kinds of firearms. There is a mathematical description of ballistics calculations and much, much more.DVD-ROM includes a number of "bonus" books as follows:"Handbook on Ammunition" B.R. 932, 1945, 204p"Coast Artillery Field Manual - Antiaircraft Artillery Service of the Piece 37-mm Antiaircraft Gun (Case I Firing)" War Department Manual 4-140, 1941, 72p"Elements of Ordnance" Lt. Col. Thomas J. Hayes, 1938, 732p - This was written specifically for Army Cadet training in ordnance and represents the state of the art on the eve of WWII"Coast Artillery Field Manual - Antiaircraft Artillery Marksmanship and Service of the Piece Antiaircraft Machine Gun" War Department Manual 4-135, 1940, 84p "Coast Artillery Field Manual - Barrage Balloon Operation of Materiel and Employment of Personnel" War Department Manual 4-117, 1942, 108p "Coast Artillery Field Manual - Coast Artillery Gunners' Instruction, Antiaircraft Gun, Automatic Weapon, and Headquarters Batteries, First and Second Class Gunners" War Department Manual 4-325, 1941, 331p "Coast Artillery Field Manual - Antiaircraft Artillery Operation of Materiel and Employment of Personnel, Antiaircraft Searchlight Units" War Department Manual 4-115, 1941, 141p
