This is the Workers Party of America edition from 1922, issued before the Communist Party USA was created, and while Trotsky was still a leader of the Bolshevik/Communist Party in the Soviet Union. A year later Trotsky was ousted as a leader of the CP in the USSR and the book was withdrawn from sale in the United States. Although this title was issued as an inexpensive pamphlet, the Workers Party also issued a few copies in hardback. This is one of those. Very rare in this original hardback format. Details from Title Page: "Workers Party Library, Vol. 1" "Published 1922 by Workers Party of America 799 Broadway, Room 405 New York City" Condition: Maroon cloth hardback. Very Good with light rubbing at spine ends, a bare hint of wear at corners, gilt on spine faded but very good on front, page edges show light age-tanning although pages themselves are white, rubber stamps of names of two previous owners on fly-leaf, otherwise no other names, no writing, no marks, solid tight binding. Extremely rare!
