Please see photos Vaporizer was manufactured by the DeVilbiss Company of Toledo, Ohio. Dr. Allen DeVilbiss invented the first atomizer in the late 1880’s in order to help his patients breathe more easily. Today, DeVilbiss Health Care Co. is located in Somerset, Pennsylvania, with their products being distributed to more than 100 countries around the world. They are a world leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of respiratory home health products. The vaporizer emits a medicinal steam. The design and function are intriguing. This vaporizer consists of three parts, all tin: a lower alcohol lamp, a pierced stand, and an upper fluid container. To use, alcohol was added to the little lamp and the wick ignited. A menthol or other vaporizing medicinal solution was added to the upper chamber. When the lamp was inserted beneath the upper container, the fluid would vaporize and be emitted through the upward-angled tube. Later versions of these vaporizers were heated electrically.
