Description: Large original unsigned photo of Pierre Loti from the Cliche Veuve Delphin, Rochfort, in the Gallerie Contemporaire. The photo shows Loti half length standing, wearing his naval uniform. The photograph is 9 1/2" x 7¼" on a page 13½" x 10”. No place, no date, probably taken in Rochfort where Loti had a home. The Arsenal de Rochefort was a French naval base and dockyard in the town of Rochefort. It was founded in 1665 and it was closed in 1926. Very good condition - some craquleur on the surface that can be seen in raked light. Pierre Loti;(pseudonym of Louis Marie-Julien Viaud) 14 January 1850 – 10 June 1923, was a French naval officer and novelist, known for his exotic novels and short stories. _gsrx_vers_1516 (GS 9.3 (1516))
