Description: A scarce vintage 1981 offset poster issued for the Los Angeles Music Center United Fund, **HAND SIGNED** at lower right margin in sharp marker or ballpoint by the world-famous contemporary Pop artist David Hockney (born 1937). The poster measures 26" by 21" inside the present mat and 36 1/2" by 31 1/2" in silvery framing. Hockney is a British-born artist, and long-time resident of Los Angeles, boasting a top auction price to date at $90 million, for a painting. His Los Angeles and Southern California imagery of swimming pools of Mid Century homes, hilly neighborhoods and scenic collage is some of his most coveted work. This print shows a little wear commensurate with its age, all acquired before its present framing. There is a small dig at left as shown in photos, another small paper loss, and several unobtrusive light handling creases visible only when viewed in raking light. The (I think, UV resistant) glass being sizable and therefore representing a danger in shipping, a local buyer would be welcomed. If shipped, it may be advisable to remove the glass or ship the poster rolled in a hard tube. Email to discuss. The hand signature being intrinsic to the value, I have tried to take a number of close-ups, showing the shallow groove in the paper from the writing instrument used. Scroll in close to see in detail. I guarantee the signature to be hand signed and not a facsimile.
