Rated at 1500 watts this professional grade pure sine wave inverter takes DC power (the power that comes from batteries or solar panels) and transforms it into AC power. 1500 watts is the perfect size for most off-the-grid vehicles, including mid sized RVs, boats, Sprinter or camper vans, trailers, job sites for charging power tools, or other off grid applications where you need plug and play power. 1500 watts is a good size to run a medium sized TV, stereo, small kitchen appliances, computers, small heater, or other home electronics. As a professional grade tool, this inverter provides a pure sine wave, which is compatible with the most sensitive of electronics, including CPAP machines, medical devices, and engineering equipment. For larger power systems >1500 watts we recommend the Victron Multiplus inverter. Please note: the recommenced battery size for this inverter is a 100 Ah Dakota Lithium battery or larger. This allows you to plug any electronics that have an AC wall plug into this inverter.INVERTER RATING12 Volts, 1500 watts. For use with 12V batteries to power anything that uses AC power (the power in your wall socket)OPTIMIZED FOR SOLAR ENERGYCompatible with solar panels. For higher efficiency we recommend using with a battery and a solar charge controller.HOW DOES THIS FIT INTO MY OFF-GRID, HOME POWER SYSTEM?The inverter makes easy to use energy available from your batteries in the form of an AC wall plug. The inverter connects to your Dakota Lithium batteries. If you are charging the batteries off of a gasoline engine you will want a Orion DC-DC charger. If you are charging your batteries with solar panels you will want a solar charge controller. For real time data on how your system is performing you may want to add a smart shunt or a battery monitor which will tell you how much power your have available at any time.RECOMMENDED BATTERY SIZERecommenced battery size for this inverter is a 100 Ah Dakota Lithium battery or larger.PROFESSIONAL GRADE PURE SINE WAVEProvides 100% Pure Sine Wave current. Compatible with all AC electronics, including electronics including high definition screens, engineering equipment, and medical devices. Frequently Asked QuestionsTwice the Power? Yes! Here at Dakota Lithium we build all of our batteries with lithium iron phosphate technology which has many distinct advantages over traditional batteries. Including 60% less weight, a charging speed that is up to 5X faster, and a significantly longer lifespan (5-10 years longer on average). One of the most noticeable advantages however is the flat voltage curve. Unlike a lead acid battery where the voltage drops as you use the battery a Dakota Lithium battery has a steady voltage for 99% of the battery's charge. That means you get all the power down to the last drop and double the usable power of traditional batteries. Are Lithium Batteries Safe? Dakota Lithium batteries are 100% safe & reliable. Our signature chemistry, Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4), does not contain rare earth elements (like Cobalt) or heavy metals, is non-toxic, including no lead or acid, is non-corrosive, does not off gas, requires no watering or maintenance, can be placed in any orientation, and unlike other lithium batteries will not explode or catch fire. In addition, each Dakota Lithium battery is protected from over heating, over charging, and short circuiting, by a battery management system (BMS) microchip that also extends the lifespan and is contained in a rugged, waterproof case (although enough water can conduct electricity between the terminals, so don't submerse the battery). For best performance & reliability we recommend using a LiFePO4 charger. How do I charge a lithium battery? Dakota Lithium batteries perform best when charged by a lithium compatible charger. Lead acid or SLA chargers, on-board chargers for AGM batteries, or other non-lithium chargers will charge a Dakota Lithium battery but only to 70-80% of capacity. This is because Dakota Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) technology charges and is full at a higher voltage then traditional batteries (Dakota Lithium charges at 14.4 Volts). Chargers with a lithium battery setting or designed for lithium will charge at the appropriate voltage. See our full catalog of LiFePO4 battery chargers here. All batteries 54Ah and larger include a free LiFePO4 compatible charger. For troubleshooting tips download the Dakota Lithium battery user manual here. Will cold weather affect my battery? Your Dakota Lithium battery will discharge normally between a range of -20F and 120F (-29C to 49C). DL batteries are commonly used among ice fishers for their flashers and ice augers, so they are quite resilient and are frequently used in cold climates. In cases of extreme cold however, it is recommended that the batteries be insulated. We also do not recommend charging our batteries below freezing temperatures. If you are planning to regularly charge your battery below freezing temperatures we recommend the DL+ 12V 135Ah battery which has an internal heating element and is optimal for use in cars, trucks, RVs, off grid solar, and any application where the battery will be charged regularly in extremely cold environments (like a North Dakota winter). Can I use this to start my car/boat engine? Our DL+ line of batteries have 1000cca of engine starting power plus the same legendary deep cycle capabilities of all Dakota Lithium batteries. That means you can use them for starting a boat, car or truck engine. Our standard deep cycle batteries do not have this cold cranking ability and can not be used for a starting battery. What Trolling Motor Battery Do You Recommend? "Dakota Lithium is a proud sponsor of over 200+ professional athletes in the fishing industry. For a deep dive on trolling motor batteries read How to Choose A Lithium Battery for Trolling Motors" What battery do I need for my RV or Camper Van? The industry standard house battery size used in most RVs, Campers, and #VanLife builds is the DL 100Ah battery. This is a drop in replacement for AGM and most lead acid batteries. If you are charging off your engine's alternator we recommend a Victron DC-DC smart charger. If charging off solar panels we recommend a Victron Smart Solar charge controller, or if you have a solar charge controller choose the lithium setting. A handy size chart for number of batteries needed by size of RV is available here.
