Description: This listing is for an authentic vintage sample of antique barbed wire fencing. This wire features a John D. Curtis patent, dated March 15, 1892. This wire is called "Curtis' Two Point Half Round Twist Lock Barb on Flat and Round Lines - with Barb on Round Line" by collectors. (ref. Hagemeier 276-B VARIATION) (Hagemeir shows the barb on round and flat lines ...... but shows the barb on the flat line.) This wire features two line wires twisted together. Barbed line is round in cross section; and non-barbed line has a flat area on two sides. Barbs are two pointed made from half round stock. Barb is wrapped once around one line wire, with flat side against line wire. Points of barbs are twisted inwards 1/4 turn to lock barb to line wire. Wire sample is at least 18" in length. It shows light age and use wear with light pitting. There are four barbs, fairly well spaced, but cut is not well centered. There are no broken or missing barbs. Wire is in good used condition. This sample of antique barbed wire is absolutely old and authentic and sells with no reserve. Shipping will be $4.50, within the United States.
