Description: Compact and Fuzzy, Slightly Plump Air Plant - Tillandsia kolbii Formerly known as "Tillandsia ionantha v. scaposa", Tillandsia kolbii is similar to an ionantha, but is somewhat larger and taller looking. This species also prefers a more humid and slightly cooler environment. Leaves of the kolbii have a slight curve and are covered in trichomes that give them a gray appearance. Native to Oaxaca, Chiapas, and Guatemala, it typically can be found growing at altitudes of 4900 to 5600 feet above sea level. SMALL size is 0-1" *You will receive a plant similar to the one(s) pictured. Plants may or may not have dried end or broken leaves or be in bloom. Product has been customized with a yellow-gold wire hanger. --------------------------------------------- Foliage:Leaves are light yellow-green to dark green and will reach up to 6" in length. Plant height is up to 5" in total. Blooms: Inflorescence displays a bright cherry to crimson bract with light blue-violet flowers. Fruit: No Zoned: 10-11 Environment: Medium to high humidity. It will usually tolerate indoor levels with slight difficulty, but prefers a more humid environment. Grows best in 50-75 degrees F and will tolerate as low as 40 degrees for a very short period of time. Needs good air circulation. Light: Bright indirect light. Try to avoid North-facing windows due to lack of sufficient lighting. Water: Submerge plant for up to 5 hours upon receiving, then every other week thereafter or thoroughly mist 2-3x per week. Decrease watering if the humidity levels are higher. Gently shake the plant to dislodge water then place upside-down on absorbent material until the leaves are thoroughly dry. Soggy leaves or overly damp crown/base may encourage leaf drop and disease. Decrease water in winter. Fertilizer: Use a balanced fertilizer every month during the growing period. It is advisable to use a epiphyte fertilizer mix or a general-purpose fertilizer diluted to 1/4 of the directions. Notes:This plant is not considered toxic, but should not be consumed.
