Description: Christmas Tree Shops “Don’t you just love a bargain?” ----------------------------------------------------------------------- The Christmas Tree Shops opened as a three-season store in 1970 on Route 6A in Yarmouth Port, Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The shop consisted of three buildings which is why it was named “Shops” instead of “Shop”. More stores were opened in Massachusetts in the 1980s and there were eight stores, then considered a chain, by 1984. By 1993, a store had opened in Manchester, Connecticut and it soon it expanded to have stores all over New England and even New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio. At its peak of success, there were 72 Christmas Tree Shops in 20 states. The television commercials for the store included a popular jingle “Don’t you just love a bargain?” Everyone I know, including me and my four rabbits, loved a bargain and loved the Christmas Tree Shops. MacGregor, Jr. was born in Medfield, MA, the son and grandson of Norfolk Hunt Club kennel masters. Many of his family members were self taught artists, woodcarvers, automobile mechanics and veterans of foreign wars including his father a WW1 US Army veteran. Bill is a graduate of Medfield High School, Wentworth Institute, and Northeastern University. His engineering career, from which he is now retired, included working for military and aerospace companies in industrial engineering and IR optics. His painting incorporates “old skool” mechanical and civil drafting tools and he uses a mixed medium of watercolors, acrylics and inks. Two rabbits are often in quite a few of his paintings. Look for them. He is frequently commissioned by United States Naval officers to create paintings of their ships and aircraft carriers on nautical charts. In May,2018, and for one year, four of Bill’s automotive related paintings were on display at the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, MA
