Description: Vintage Celestion 7442 10” 15 Ohm guitar speaker from the 70’s in Excellent Condition! Please see the pics! It’s voice is very articulate: strong in the midrange, fairly bright on top, with a modest low-end. I believe the 7442 is rated at 10 watts — it always handled my 6G2 Princeton with ease (please make sure your amp is within reasonable wattage levels!). There’s a tiny light brown discoloration just above the dust cover (pic #5) which has no effect on functionality. The red “15” impedance sticker fell off a long time ago, but I marked it on the basket at the time. PLEASE NOTE: Although rated at 15 ohms, pic #3 shows it actually measures 11.7 ohms. I have no way of knowing if it was a re-cone or not, but it’s always performed just fine, no issues. Also note the cone stamp in pic #6: W-471. I don’t know enough speaker history to know if this is significant. I got this speaker 40+ years ago after I blew out the original speaker in my old Fender Princeton. I was looking for something a little more aggressive sounding than the stock Oxford, so the repair shop put this in. Since then it’s been used only for occasional recording, including some baritone guitar tracks by a very famous Nashville Telecaster-slinger I was engineering overdubs for years ago. I’ve never gigged or abused it. A few years back I was chasing a different sonic flavor, so replaced it in the Princeton, though it was working perfectly. Prior to listing I just tested it — it sounds exactly as I remember it, with zero issues!
