Description: 1832 or so stampless folded letter from Cincinnati, Ohio to Medford NJ. Large size, with letter content but heavy internal splitting; must have had heavy enclosures because it was rated 2 1/2 oz., $2.50. (10x the 25 cent rate for over 400 miles). Small black CDS was only used for a couple of years in the early 1830s. Cover with wear and staining; interesting rate piece. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.
